COVENANT FAMILY DAILY MEDITATION
DATE: TUESDAY, 3RD SEPTEMBER 2019
THEME: EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
TOPIC: COMMUNICATION THROUGH PRAYER
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
(Mark 1 vs 35, KJV)
POINTS OF EMPHASIS:
Jesus communicated with the Father early and often through prayer. Often the reason our communication with others is so poor and ineffective is because we have spent little time communicating with God.
Our primary mode of communicating with God is prayer. We are to go to God in prayer for all our needs. When we lack something, God says that it is not from His inability to provide but from our lack of diligence to ask or asking with the wrong motives (James 4:2-3).
Even Jesus prayed regularly because of the limitations He took upon Himself in human form. Jesus prayed often and fervently to re-establish intimate communication with the Father. We are to follow His example and “pray continually”.
Often through a combination of fasting and prayer, our minds become clearer and our hearts are more sensitive to God. Again, we may not hear God’s literal voice, but His Spirit confirms a certain direction or answer for us. As the distractions fade, we can sense His leading in a new way. Sometimes while praying, God’s Spirit will remind us of a Scripture or a truth in His Word that we can directly apply to our situation.
Does God speak to all of us the same way? No, we are all unique. Are these the only ways God speaks today? No. He’s a creative God. He speaks in so many ways, including through miracles. Regardless of the way God chooses to reveal Himself or “speak” to us today, remember one truth; He will never contradict His Word, and the message He gives will always bring glory to Him.
God speaks through prayer but am I not a lazy type when it comes to praying?
Lord help me to always pray and be sensitive to your voice.
I choose to pray always.
